Do clean your awning regularly at minimum you should clean it once a year with dish soap and water before storing your rv for the winter.

Lower the rear leg detach it from the rv and prop it up on the ladder like we did for the front leg in the previous steps.
Now hook the black pull strap on the awning with your awning rod and pull the strap straight out.
So reattach the front leg to the side of the rv and raise it up a bit.

Ideally however you should clean your awning every few months or more frequently as needed.
